Kitchen Door

2 min read
Kitchen Door by Wolf Larsen

No was her name
No was the lion that no one could tame
But Faith was his name
Faith came around with a smile on his face anyway
He said, tell, tell me now
Tell me the worry that knit up your brow

She said, slow down this train
Slow down the iron that runs in my veins

I can hear you tap tapping at my kitchen door
I can hear the river run and the river want more
Don't you know, I'm already sure
I can hear you tap tapping at my kitchen door

But No kept her name
No got so quiet, she put out her flame
But Faith stayed the same
Faith came around with that smile on his face the next day
He said, follow me down
Follow me down with your pick and your plow

I can hear you tap tapping at my kitchen door
I can hear the river run and the river want more
Don't you know, I am already sure
I can hear you standing quiet at my kitchen door

This is a great song. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it's wonderful!
I'm the happiest I've been in a long time... I'm in a good place.

Farewell To Tarwathie by Judy Collins

Farewell to Tarwathie, Adieu Mormond Hill
And the dear land of Crimmond, I bid you farewell
I'm bound off for Greenland and ready to sail
In hopes to find riches, in hunting the whale

Farewell to my comrades for a while we must part
And likewise the dear lass, who first won my heart
The cold coast of Greenland, my love will not chill
And the longer my absence more loving she'll feel

Our ship is well rigged and she's ready to sail
The crew they are anxious to follow the whale
Where the icebergs do float and the stormy winds blow
Where the land and the ocean is covered with snow

The cold coast of Greenland is barren and bare
No seed time nor harvest is ever known there
And the birds here sing sweetly, in mountain and dale
But there's no bird in Greenland to sing to the whale

There is no habitation for a man to live there
And the king of that country is the fierce Greenland bear
And there'll be no temptation to tarry long there
With our ship under full we will homeward repair

Farewell to Tarwathie, Adieu Mormond Hill
And the dear land of Crimmond, I bid you farewell
I'm bound off for Greenland and ready to sail
In hopes to find riches, in hunting the whale

This is an absolutely beautiful song; please check it out if you have the time.

Who We Are

2 min read
Who We Are by Imagine Dragons

Up in the morning
Up in the evening
Picking down clocks
When the birds come out to eat
Oh to eat

Up on the mountain
Down in the king's lair
Pushing these blocks
In the heat of the afternoon,
Oh afternoon

We were never welcome here
We were never welcome here at all
No.

It’s who we are
Doesn’t matter if we’ve gone too far
Doesn’t matter if it’s all okay
Doesn’t matter if it’s night or day

So won’t you save us
What we are
Don’t look clear
Cause it’s all uphill from here
Oh.

Up in the attic
Down in the cellar
Lost in the static
Coming back for more
Oh for more

Out with the reason
In with the season
Taking down names
In my book of jealousy
Jealousy

We were never welcome here
We were never welcome here at all
No.

It’s who we are
Doesn’t matter if we’ve gone too far
Doesn’t matter if it’s all okay
Doesn’t matter if it’s night or day

Because it’s who we are
Doesn’t matter if we’ve gone too far
Doesn’t matter if it’s all okay
Doesn’t matter if it’s night or day

So won’t you save us
What we are
Don’t look clear
Cause it’s all uphill from here

Oh.

They say we’re crazy [8x]

It’s who we are
Doesn’t matter if we’ve gone too far
Doesn’t matter if it’s all okay
Doesn’t matter if it’s night or day

Because it’s who we are
Doesn’t matter if we’ve gone too far
Doesn’t matter if it’s all okay
Doesn’t matter if it’s night or day

So won’t you save us
What we are
Don’t look clear
Cause it’s all uphill from here
Oh.
(They say we're crazy)

Sad News

2 min read
Some sad news today...
One of our oldest cats, Daisy, died today. She was 13 years. She died peacefully in her sleep in her favorite spot, surrounded by her cat friends. We figured she wasn't long for this world, as she had multiple cancers, but she was comfortable and happy, so that's what counts.
We got Daisy when she was a year old from the humane society. Then named Gimpy, she was a homely anti-social young cat that nobody had wanted. But we did. Daisy was born missing five bones in her right paw, a deformed spine, metabolism issues, and two different colored eyes one of which was mostly blind. She had a lot of health issues so it's amazing that she lived this long! Daisy got on well with all creatures and could scare any dog into obedience, with her one working claw on her deformed paw.
Daisy, you will be sorely missed. Rest in peace little girl.
